Stats Glossary
- wRC+
- Weighted Runs Created Plus. Measures overall offensive value relative to league average. 100 is average; higher is better.
- xwOBA
- Expected Weighted On-Base Average. Based on quality of contact; removes luck from hitting results.
- FIP
- Fielding Independent Pitching. ERA-like stat based only on strikeouts, walks, and home runs.
- xFIP
- Expected FIP. Normalizes home run rate to league average to isolate pitcher skill.
- xERA
- Expected ERA based on quality of contact allowed. A good indicator of whether ERA will rise or fall.
- Barrel%
- Percentage of batted balls hit with ideal exit velocity and launch angle.
- Hard-Hit%
- Percentage of batted balls with exit velocity of 95 mph or higher.
- BB%
- Walk rate. Higher is better for hitters, lower is better for pitchers.
- K%
- Strikeout rate. Lower is better for hitters, higher is better for pitchers.
- WHIP
- Walks plus Hits per Inning Pitched.
- DRS
- Defensive Runs Saved. How many runs saved versus an average defender.
- OAA
- Outs Above Average. Statcast-based fielding metric.
